1797 - Allen was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on August 9, 1797.
1809-1811 - Attended the Leicester Academy.
1811-1812 - Attended Yale College and afterwards studied law.
1818 - He was admitted to the bar and after passing the bar he praticed his career at New Braintree.
1824 - Returned to Worcester and continued his career.
1830-1835 - Became a Member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives.
1836-1837 - Rendered service in the Massachusetts State Senate.
1842-1845 - Became a member of the Northeastern Boundary Commission and judge of the Court of Common Pleas.
1848 - He was a delegate to the Whig National Convention at Philadelphia.
1849-1853 - Elected as the Free-Soil Party candidate to Congress.
1859-1867 - Became Chief Justice of the Sufolk County Superior Court and was a delegate to the peace convention held at Washington, D.C..
1869 - Three days before his 72nd birthday, he died in Worcester on August 6, 1869.
