1925 - Aldiss was born in East Dereham, Norfolk on August 18, 1925.
1943 - Joined the British Army particularly the Royal Signals regiment.
1955 - Won the competition by The Observer for short stories, the piece he entered in the contest is entitled "Not For An Age".
1958 - Voted as the Most Promising New Author at the World Science Fiction Convention.
1960 - Became a member and later elected President of the British Science Fiction Association.
1961 - Edited a short science fiction for the British paperback publisher Penguin Books entitled Penguin Science Fiction.
1962 - Became the Literary Editor of the Oxford Mail newspaper.
1964 - Together with Harry Harrison, they started the first journal of science fiction criticism, Science Fiction Horizons.
1974-1978 - Produced large collections of classic grand-scale science fiction namely: Space Opera, Space Odysseys, Galactic Empires, Evil Earths, and Perilous Planets.
1982-1985 - Wrote "The Helliconia Trilogy" which consists of Helliconia Spring, Helliconia Summer, Helliconia Winter.
1987 - Wrote the fiction book entitled Ruins.
1992 - Wrote the poem entitled Home Life With Cats.
1995 - Wrote the poems entitled, At The Caligula Hotel and Songs From The Steppes Of Central Asia.
2000 - Wrote the poem entitled A Plutonian Monologue on His Wife's Death.
2002 - Wrote the poems entitled, At a Bigger House and The Dark Sun Rises.
2005 - Receive the title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
