1909 - Agee was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on November 27, 1909.
1916 - Educated at a boarding school, Saint Andrews School for Mountain Boys.
1924-1925 - Attended Knoxville High School for a year and went to travel with Father Flye to Europe.
1928 - Entered Philips Exeter Academy where he was the president of The Lantern Club and became the editor of Monthly were he published his writings.
1932 - Admitted at Harvard University despite barely passing many of his secondary courses. Became the editor-in-chief of the Harvard Advocate.
1933 - Married Via Saunders on January 28, 1933.
1934 - Published his first volume of poetry titled "Permit Me Voyage".
1936 - Worked at Fortune magazine together with photographer Walker Evans.
1938 - Married Alma Mailman after he divorced Saunders.
1942 - Worked for Time magazine as a film critic while writing occasional book reviews. Became a film critic for The Nation Magazine.
1946 - Married Mia Fritsch and lived at Greenwich Village.
1948 - Quit both magazines to become a freelance writer and continued writing magazine articles while writing scripts for the movies.
1951 - Suffered two heart attacks which affected his life.
1955 - He died on May 16, 1955, the same day his father died.
1957 - Won the Pulitzer Price for his autobiographical novel titled "A Death in the Family".
