1885 - Born on the 7th of October in Copenhagen, Denmark to Christian Bohr a professor of physiology at the University of Copenhagen and Ellen Adler Bohr.
1912 - Married Margrethe Nørlund, and one of their sons Aage Niels Bohr was also a physicist.
1911 - Received his doctorate from Copenhagen University under Christian Christiansen.
- Studied under Ernest Rutherford in the University of Manchester in England.
1913 - He published his model of atomic structure.
- He proposed 1st quantized model of nuclear atom.
1916 - Became a professor at the University of Copenhagen.
1920 - Director of the newly constructed "Institute of Theoretical Physics".
1922 - Awarded the Nobel Prize in physics "for his services in the analysis of the structure of atoms and of the radiation emanating from them".
1943 - He was to be arrested by the German police, but he escaped to Sweden, and then to London.
1962 - Died in Copenhagen on the 18th of November and was buried in the Assistens Kirkegard.
- The element bohrium is named in his honor.
