1919 - Born on November 26th in New York City, New York. Famous American science fiction novelist, editor and literary agent.

1937 - His first publication, a poem, appeared in Amazing Stories, under the pseudonym Elton V. Andrews.

1949 - Married to Judith Merill.

1952 - Married to Carol Metcal Ulf.

1961 - He was barely into his twenties when he became the first editor of the magazines "Astounding Stories" and "Super Science Stories" and was later respected as editor of "Galaxy Science Fiction" and of its companion publications, "If," "Worlds of Tomorrow," and "Magabook".

1970 - Pohl was most notable for his HeeChee series.

1976-1978 - Wrote his novels "Man Plus" and "Gateway".

         - He won the Hugo for a novel in the series and he garnered the Nebula Award for Man Plus.

1984 - Married to Elizabeth Ann Hull.

2000 - Wrote several non-fiction books, including Chasing Science: Science as Spectator Sport.
