1165 - Philippe Auguste, born on the 21st of August in Paris, France, the son of Louis VII. His reign formed a key period in the development of the mediaeval kingdom of France.
1179 - 1223 - Reigned King of France.
1180 - He was married on the 28th of April to Isabelle of Hainaut, who brought the County of Artois as her dowry.
1190 - He embarked on the Third Crusade, but returned the following year to concentrate on attacking the continental lands of the Angevin kings of England.
1193 - On the 15th of August, he married Ingeborg, daughter of King Valdemar I of Denmark due to Isabelle's death while giving birth.
1196 - On the 7th of May, married to Agnes of Merania from Dalmatia due to the refusal of Ingeborg to be crowned Queen.
1123 - Died on the 14th of July at Mantes and was interred in Saint Denis Basilica. His son by Isabelle de Hainaut, Louis VIII, was his successor.
