1796 – William Pennington, born on the 4th of May in Newark, New Jersey. He was an American lawyer and politician.
1813 – He graduated from Princeton University.
1815 – 1826 – He was a clerk of the United States district court and then studied law on his own with Theodore Frelinghuysen.
1817 – He was admitted to the bar.
1820 – He began practicing in Newark.
1828 – 1834 – He was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly.
1837 – 1843 – Governor of New Jersey.
1860 – He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the 37th Congress.
1862 – He died in Newark on the 16th of February and was interred at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Newark.
