1550 - He was born Camillo Borghese on the 17th day of September this year in Rome, Italy.


1596 – He was made cardinal and Cardinal-Vicar of Rome by Pope Clement VIII.


1605 – His Papacy began on the 16th day of May this year and ends at the time of his death.


1610 – He canonized Charles Borromeo and Frances of Rome. He beatified a number of individuals, including Ignatius Loyola, Philip Neri, Theresa of Avila, and Francis Xavier.


1615 - Paul V welcomed the embassy of the Japanese samurai Hasekura Tsunenaga in Rome. Hasekura remitted to the Pope a letter, containing a request for a trade treaty between Japan and Mexico and the dispatch of Christian missionaries to Japan.


1621 – He died at the age of 70 on the 28th of January this year in Rome, Italy. He was succeeded by Gregory XV.
