1921 - Born on June 22nd in Brooklyn, New York. American theatrical producer and director, founder of the New York Shakespeare Festival and the Public Theatre.

1946-1948 - Papp studied acting and directing at the Actor's Laboratory Theatre in Hollywood.
 
1954 - He founded the New York Shakespeare Festival.

1967 - Founder of the Public Theatre.

         - Produced Broadway plays "Hair", "The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel" and "A Chorus Line".

1971 - Appeared in the film Such Good Friends.

1991 - Died of metastatic prostate cancer on October 31st in New York, New York.

2001 - His new version of The Pirates of Penzeance was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Theatre Award for Outstanding Musical Production.
