1743 - Born on April 17th in Gloucester County, Virginia. A representative from Virginia.
1763 - Graduated from the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Virginia.
1776 - He was a delegate to the state constitutional convention.
- He was appointed as the lieutenant governor of Virginia and raised a regiment of militia from Gloucester County.
1781 - A member of the state house of delegates.
1789 - Elected as an Anti-Administration candidate to the First, Second, and Third Congresses and reelected as a Republican to the Fourth Congress.
1802-1805 - He became the governor of Virginia and was appointed United States commissioner of loans for Virginia and held office until his death.
1808 - Died in Richmond, Virginia on October 11th and was buried at St. John's Churchyard, Richmond, Virginia.
