Vance Packard is a US social critic.

 

1914 - Born 22nd of May in Granville Summit, Pennsylvania.

 

1932 - Entered Penn State, majoring in English.

 

1936 - He graduated in his studies and worked briefly for the local newspaper, the Centre Daily Times.

 

1937 - Earned his master's degree at the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

 

         - Joined the Boston Daily Record as a staff reporter.

 

1938 - Married Virginia Matthews.

 

1940 - Became a reporter for the Associated Press

 

1942 - Staff of American magazine as a section editor, later becoming a staff writer.

 

         - Moved over to Collier's where he worked as a writer.

 

1957 - The Hidden Persuaders was published and received national attention.

 

1960-1968 - Wrote "The Waste Makers" 1960, "The Pyramid Climbers" 1962, "The Naked Society" 1964, "The Sexual Wilderness" 1968.

 

1961 - Named a Distinguished Alumnus of Penn State University.

 

1996 - He died 12th of December at his summer home on Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts.
