1935 - Born on the 10th of September in Cleveland, Ohio.
1950 - She briefly attended both Ohio State University and Vassar College, but did not receive a degree.
1980 - Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship.
1984 - Her collection of poetry American Primitive won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry.
1986 - She moved to Bucknell University where she was honored with the title "Poet In Residence".
1991 - She moved to Sweet Briar College in Virginia where she serves as the Margaret Banister Writer in Residence.
1992 - Oliver has received include the National Book Award.
2005 - Her late partner, artist Molly Malone Cook, served as Oliver's literary agent until her death.
