Olbers, Heinrich Wilhelm Matthaus

1758 – Born on the 11th of October.

1780 – He began practicing medicine in Bremen, Germany.

       – He devised the first satisfactory method of calculating cometary orbits.

1802 – He discovered and named the Asteroid Pallas.

1807 – He discovered the asteroid Vesta, which he allowed Carl Friedrich Gauss to name.

1811 – He was a member of the Corps Legislatif in Paris.

1815 – He discovered a periodic comet named after him.

1840 – He died on the 2nd of March.
