O'Higgins, Bernardo
1778 - Born on the 28th of August in Chillan, Chile.
1810 - He joined the nationalist rebels fighting for independence from Spain.
1817 - He went back on the offensive with the aid of Argentine General Jose de San Martin.
- He led a Cavalry charge that won the Battle of Chacabuco.
1823 - He was deposed by a conservative coup.
- He organized the Chilean Army and the first Chilean Navy.
1842 - He died on the 24th of October in Lima, Peru.
