O'Higgins, Bernardo

Born: 1778 AD
Died: 1842 AD

1778 – Born on the 28th of August in Chillan, Chile.

1810 – He joined the nationalist rebels fighting for independence from Spain.

1817 – He went back on the offensive with the aid of Argentine General Jose de San Martin.

       – He led a Cavalry charge that won the Battle of Chacabuco.

1823 – He was deposed by a conservative coup.

       – He organized the Chilean Army and the first Chilean Navy.

1842 – He died on the 24th of October in Lima, Peru.
