1900 - Born on February 22nd in Cork, County Cork, Ireland. The 20th-century Irish writer Sean O'Faolain is best known for his carefully crafted short stories about Ireland's lower and middle classes. He often examined the decline of the nationalist struggle or the failings of Irish Roman Catholicism.

1929 - Married to Eileen Gould.

1932-1980 - Wrote the short stories: Midsummer Night Madness and Other Stories, The Man Who Invented Sin, The Heat of the Sun, Stories and Tales, The Talking Trees, Foreign Affairs, and Other Stories, Selected Stories and Collected Stories of Sean O'Faolain I.

         - He also wrote the novels: A Nest of Simple Folk, Bird Alone, Come Back to Erin and And Again?.

         - Wrote the biographies: A Life of Daniel O'Connell, The Great O'Neill and Vive moi!.

1991 - Died on April 20th in Dublin, Ireland.
