Novikov, Sergei Petrovich
1938 - Born on the 20th of March in Gorky, Russian.
1960 - He received the Moscow Mathematical Society Award for young mathematicians.
1965 - He defended a dissertation for the Doctor of Science in Physics and Mathematics degree.
1966 - He became the Corresponding member of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
1970 - He was recognised by the award of the Fields Medal.
1971 - He worked at the Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
1981 - He was elected as Full Member of the USSR Academy of Sciences.
1984 - He was elected as a member of Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
2004 - He is the Head of the Department of geometry and topology at the Steklov Mathematical Institute.
2005 - He became one of just eight mathematicians who received both the Fields Medal and the Wolf Prize.
