1961 - He graduate in the United States Military Academy at West Point New York.
1972 - He received a Law Degree from the University of Denver.
1978 - He founded Nicholson Enterprises, Inc.
1986 - He was elected committeeman from Colorado for the Republican National Committee.
1987 - He became an award-winning builder of quality custom homes.
1991 - He retired with the rank of a Colonel.
1993 - He was elected Vice-Chairman of the RNC.
2000 - He served in that role through Presidential Election.
2005 - He has been the United States Secretary of Veterans Affairs.
