1917 – His reign ended due to force abdication. His rule ended with the Russian Revolution of this year, after which he and his family were executed by Bolsheviks.

 

1918 – He passed away on the 17th day of July this year at age 51 in Yekaterinburg, Russia.

 

1981 – He and his immediate family were canonized as saints by the Russian Orthodox Church as martyrs. In addition, on the 14th day of August 2000 they were canonized by the synod of the Russian Orthodox Church.
