1829 – Born on the 11th of June in Geneva, Switzerland.

1854 – He was elected travelling fellow of Magdalene College, Cambridge.

1858 – He was one of the founders of the British Ornithologists’ Union.

1862 – He wrote many books, including Zoology of Ancient Europe.

1865 – He contributed many memoirs to scientific societies.

1866 – He became the first Professor of Zoology.

1872 – He was the first person to describe Newton’s Parakeet.

1907 – He died on the 7th of June.
