1805 – Born on the 27th of June in London.

1826 – He had a brilliant career, obtaining a double first class.
1830 – He went to Baghdad as assistant in the mission.

1833 – He returned to England to procure additional support for the mission.

1840 – He became Professor of Latin in Manchester New College.

1846 – He quit this appointment to become professor in University College London.

1847 – He published anonymously a History of the Hebrew Monarchy.

1891 – He wrote his last publication.

1897 – He died on the 7th of October.
