Newberry, John Strong
1822 - Born on the 22nd of December in Windsor, Conn.
1846 - He graduated from Western Reserve University.
1851 - He established his medical practice in Cleveland.
1855 - He joined an exploring expedition under Lieutenant Williamson.
1857 - He acted as geologist to an expedition headed by Lieutenant Ives.
- He was called to a professorship at Columbian University.
1866 - He was offered the Chair of geology and paleontology in the School of Mines, Columbia College.
1888 - He assisted in the organization of the Geological Society of America at Cleveland.
- He served on the commission to organize an international geological congress.
1892 - He died on the 7th of December in New Haven, Connecticut.
