2000 – He become the ninth man to coach 1000 games.
2001 – He was awarded a Doctor of Laws in McMaster University.
2002 – He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
– He was also appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada.
2003 – He died on the 21st of June.
