1903 - Born on the 6th oh March in Tokyo, Japan.
1919 - She was engaged to the Crown Prince Hirohito.
1924 - She married then Crown Prince Hirohito.
- She became the Crown Princess of Japan.
1925 - She became empress upon Hirohito's accession to the throne.
1971 - She performed her ceremonial duties as empress in a traditional way.
1975 - She became known as the "smiling Empress".
1989 - She assumed the title of Empress Dowager.
- She was in failing health herself and did not attend her husband's funeral.
2000 - She died on the 16th of June in Tokyo,Japan.
- Her final resting place is in a mausoleum near that of her late husband.
