1727 - Born at Clooniquin, County Roscommon, Ireland on the 27th of December.

1752-1754 - He edited Gray's Inn Journal.

1765 - As Henry Thrale's oldest and dearest friend, it was he who introduced Samuel Johnson to the Thrales in January.

1792 - Essay on the Life and Genius of Samuel Johnson.

1801 - Life of David Garrick.

1803 - He was appointed Commissioner of Bankruptcy.

1805 - Died on the 18th of June at Knightsbridge, London, and was buried at Hammersmith, London.
