1943 - Joni Mitchell, Roberta Joan Anderson, was born on the 7th of November. A noted Canadian musician, songwriter, and painter. The child of a grocer and a teacher, Mitchell was born and raised in Fort Macleod, Alberta until the age of nine, when the family moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, which Mitchell considers her hometown.

 

1965 - Gave her daughter, Kelly Dale Anderson born on the 19th of February, up for adoption.

 

          - Married Chuck Mitchell and divorced him the next year.

 

1981 - Was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

 

1995 - Received Billboard's Century Award.

 

1996 - Was awarded the Polar Music Prize. Mitchell has sometimes objected to the way her legacy is described by critics, singling out in particular the "female Bob Dylan" moniker. "Being female creates a new category in some people's minds. No one would say that Dylan is the 'male Joni Mitchell.

 

1997 - Awarded into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  In 1996 she was awarded the Polar Music Prize. 2002 - She was appointed a Companion of the Order of Canada on the 1st of May.

 

2003 - Rolling Stone named her the 72nd greatest guitarist of all time; she was the highest-ranked woman on the list.
