1865 – He was born on the 27th day of February this year in Leipzig.

 

1907 - His best result was in the first Trebitsch Memorial tournament held in Vienna this year.

 

1909 – This year, he defeated Schlechter in a match.

 

1930 - He moved to England to escape Nazi persecution and became the first British grandmaster in 1950.

 

1911 - He also organized the master tournament of San Sebastian and insisted that all the masters' expenses were paid for. This was the first international tournament of José Raul Capablanca, and he surprised all by winning.

 

1954 – He died on the 23rd day of February this year in London.
