Gray, Frizzell Gerard(Mfume, Kweisi)
1948 - Born on October 24th in Baltimore, Maryland. American black activist and Democratic politician.
1984 - He earned a Master’s degree in Liberal Arts, with a concentration in International Studies, from Johns Hopkins University. He would later go on to serve on the Boards of both Universities.
1987 - U.S. Congressional Representative from Maryland.
1991 - He co-authored and successfully amended the Civil Rights Bill to apply the act to U.S. citizens working for American-based companies abroad. He also sponsored legislative initiatives banning assault weapons and establishing stalking as a federal crime.
1992 - The chairman of Congressional Black Caucus.
1996-2004 - President & CEO of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
- He led Congressional movement to encourage Bill Clinton to help restore Jean Bertrand Aristide to power in Haiti.
- He co-wrote autobiography "No Free Ride".
2006 - A candidate for Democratic nomination for Senate from Maryland.
