1956 – Born on January 24th in Taourirt Moussa, Kabylia, Algeria. Algerian singer and activist celebrated in song the language and culture of the Berbers (Amazigh), an ancient North African people that represents about one-fifth of the Algerian population.

1978 – Released his first album Ay Izem (The Lion).

1995 – Published his autobiography, Rebelle.

1998 – Was shot to death on June 25th in Eastern Algeria.
