1861 - Born on April 8th in Banyuls-sur-Mer, France. French painter and sculptor.

1882 - He went to Paris to study painting.

1892 - Originally a painter in the Symbolist mode of Paul Gauguin, Maillol began to study tapestry.

1896 - Married to his wife, Clotilde on July.

1898 - Blindness brought on by this work led him to turn to sculptor.

1900 - Maillol turned to sculpture, making terracotta, stone and bronzes of nude female figures in simple poses.

1944 - Died on September 27th in Banyuls-sur-Mer, France from an automobile accident.
