1938 – He became the treasurer of Lake County, Indiana.

1940 – He was delegate to Democratic National Convention.

1943 – He was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-eighth and to the sixteen succeeding Congresses.

1976 – He was unsuccessful candidate for renomination to the Ninety-fifth Congress.

1987 – Died on the 28th of September at the age of 95.
