1934 – Born on the 10th of April in Austin, Minnesota, U.S.A.

 

1954 – He graduated high school in Jefferson High School at Daly City, California.

 

1959 – Married Virginia Fields  (two sons)

 

1960 – He became assistant coach at Allan Hancock College in California.

 

1967 – He was hired as a linebackers coach for the Oakland Raiders (professional American Football Team).

 

1969 –  On the month of February he became head coach of Oakland Raiders, and became the youngest headcoach in the National Football League. He was Coach until 1978.

 

 

1979 – He worked as a Color commentator/analyst on network television broadcasts of NFL games.

 

1982 – He hosted an episode of NBC "Saturday Night Live".

 

1994 – He became the color commentator and analyst with play by play sportscaster Pat Summerall, on the Fox Network, for NFL games.
