1954 - He graduated high school in Jefferson High School at Daly City, California.
1959 - Married Virginia Fields (two sons)
1960 - He became assistant coach at Allan Hancock College in California.
1967 - He was hired as a linebackers coach for the Oakland Raiders (professional American Football Team).
1969 - On the month of February he became head coach of Oakland Raiders, and became the youngest headcoach in the National Football League. He was Coach until 1978.
1979 - He worked as a Color commentator/analyst on network television broadcasts of NFL games.
1982 - He hosted an episode of NBC "Saturday Night Live".
1994 - He became the color commentator and analyst with play by play sportscaster Pat Summerall, on the Fox Network, for NFL games.
