1995 - The Citadel is steeped in tradition --- a tradition that included a men-only admissions policy until a court order forced the school to admit a woman.

1996 - Nancy Mace entered The Citadel and after three years became the first female graduate of the South Carolina military college.

1999 - Credits transferred from another institution enabled her to graduate. Nancy Mace became the first woman to graduate from The Citadel, a military academy in Charleston, South Carolina.

2001 - She has written a book about her Citadel experience. In the Company of Men: A Woman at The Citadel, by Nancy Mace, with Mary Jane Ross.
