1910 – Born on the 28th of September in Lubao, Pampanga Philippines.
Graduated valedictorian in the Lubao Elementary School, graduated with second highest rating in the Pampanga High School.
1936 – Studied law and graduated in the University of Santo Tomas and pursued and earned the postgraduate degree of Doctor of Civil Law and Ph.D. in Economics.
– Worked as a lawyer for an American employer in Manila, and was assigned as a legal assistant to President Manuel L. Quezon.
1948 – Served as second Secretary to the Philippine Embassy in Washington, DC.
1949-1956 – Elected to the House of Representatives.
– Philippine representative to the United Nations General Assembly three times.
1957 – Member of the Liberal Party and became Vice President under President Carlos Garcia of the Nacionalista Party.
1961-1965 – Elected as the 9th President of the Philippines.
1962 – Macapagal changed the official celebration of Independence Day from 4th of July the date in 1946 that United States granted independence to 12th of June the date in 1898 that Emilio Aguinaldo declared independence from Spain.
1965 – Defeated in the Presidential election by Ferdinand Marcos.
1979 – Formed the National Union for Liberation to oppose the Marcos regime.
1997 – Diosdado Macapagal died 21st of April because of heart failure, pneumonia and renal complications at the Makati Medical Center.
His daughter, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, is the current President of the Philippines.
