1945 – Born on November 30th in Galati, Romania.
1961 – Received a scholarship to the Moscow Conservatoire.
1966-1969 – Won first prize in the Van Cliburn Competition, Enescu International Festival and Leeds International Festival.
1989 – Awarded the "Abbiati" prize, given by the Italian Critics’ Association.
1995 – Won a Grammy Prize as the "Best Instrumental Record of the Year" for Schubert’s Sonatas in A major D664 and B flat major D960 (for Decca).
