1943 - Charles Ludlam, born on the 12th of April in Floral Park, New York. He was an American actor, director, and playwright.
1964 - He received a degree in dramatic literature from Hofstra University, by which time he had come out as gay.
1967 - He joined John Vaccaro's Playhouse of the Ridiculous, and after a falling out, became founder of the Ridiculous Theatrical Company in New York City.
1987 - He wrote one of the first plays to deal (though tangentially) with HIV infection; he was diagnosed with AIDS in March.
- He died of PCP pneumonia in St. Vincent's Hospital, New York on the 28th of May.
