1944 - Born on May 14th in Modesto, California. American film director, producer and screenwriter.
1967-1968 - Won first prize for his 15-minute science-fiction film called THX 1138 4EB: The Electronic Labyrinth at the National Student Film Festival that gave him an invitation from Warner Bros. to watch a film being made.
1969 - Together with Francis Ford Coppola, they started their own studio, 'American Zoetrope' and it was funding from Zoetrope and Coppola that helped Lucas remake his student film as a feature, "THX 1138", starring Robert Duvall and Donald Pleasence.
- Married to film editor, Marsha Griffin on February 22nd and had 3 children.

1973 - Lucas co-wrote and directed "American Graffiti" which was a mammoth hit, kickstarting the careers of Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Cindy Williams, Harrison Ford, and of course, George Lucas.

1977 - Lucas then wrote and directed Star Wars, the campy space fantasy that redefined "blockbuster".

2002-2005 - He directed and co-wrote the subsequent sequels, "Attack of the Clones" and "Revenge of the Sith", which were generally considered better than Phantom Menace, with tighter scripts and stellar box office takes.

2007 - Appointed as the Grand Marshal of the Tournament of Roses.
