1946 - Became a provincial governor.
1955 - He became defense minister and army chief of staff in Norodom Sihanouk 's government.
1966 - The prime minister of Cambodia.
1970 - Lon Nol, orchestrated the coup that toppled Prince Norodom Sihanouk.
- He led the coup that deposed Sihanouk, and assumed control of the government.
1972 - Seized control and suspended the constitution and bacame the president of Cambodia.
1975 - Lon Nol fled to Hawaii in exile when the Communists seized power in Cambodia.
