1928 - Lehrer was born in New York City on April 9, 1928.
1947 - Graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mathematics at Harvard university.
1948 - Received his Master's degree at Harvard university and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa.
1954 - Received the Edgar Allan Poe Award Raven Award.
1955-1957 - Joined the Army and was assigned at the National Security Agency.
1960 - Returned to full-time studies at Harvard University.
1964 - Contributed songs to the classic TV show "That Was the Week That Was".
1971 - Wrote ten songs and served as an occasional performer at the "The Electric Company".
1972 - Joined the faculty of the University of California and taught a class in musical theater.
