1831 - Rebecca Davis Lee Crumpler, born on the 8th of February in Delaware, to Absolum Davis and Matilda Webber. She was the first African American woman to become a physician in the United States.

1852 - She had moved to Charlestown, Massachusetts, where she worked as a nurse for the next eight years.

1860 - She was admitted to the New England Female Medical College.

1864 - When she graduated, she was the first African American woman in the United States to earn an M.D. degree.

1873 - Was able to perform such work without any formal training.

       - The only African American woman to graduate from the New England Female Medical College.

1880 - She had moved to Hyde Park, Massachusetts, and was no longer in active practice.

1883 - Authored a book about medicine, publishing A Book of Medical Discourses.

1895 - Died on the 9th of March.
