1939 - Ralph Lauren was born Ralph Lifshitz on October 14th in Bronx, New York.

1962-1964 - He joined the United States Army.  

         - Married Ricky Low-Beer after he was released from service. They eventually had three kids together and are still happily married.

1968 - He began designing wide ties and with a $50,000 loan, Lauren founded the company Polo Fashions.

1971 - He started Ralph Lauren women's collections.

1980 - Ralph Lauren's name defined the business suit and his clothing became very popular. He expanded into other areas, including casual shirts and pants. He also experimented in other areas such as furniture and linens that proved to be quite profitable.
