Lane, Joseph (Joe)
1801 - Born on December 14th in Buncombe County, North Carolina. A delegate and Senator from Oregon.
1822 - Elected to the first of several terms in the State house of representatives.
1844 - Member of the State Senate.
1849 - Appointed by President James Polk to be governor of the Territory of Oregon.
1851 - Elected as a Delegate from the Territory to the Thirty-second and to the three succeeding Congresses.
1859 - Upon the admission of Oregon as a State into the Union was elected as a Democrat to the United States Senate.
1860 - Southern Democratic vice-presidential candidate.
1881 - Died on April 19th in Roseburg, Oregon.
