1785 - Born on November 13th. She is best known for her tempestuous affair with the poet Byron, and oft quoted for coining him 'mad bad and dangerous to know,' It was perhaps a phrase as appropriate to apply to herself as Byron.
1802 - She married William Lamb, the son of Lady Melbourne, when she was seventeen. They had one child, a son, who was probably what we would call autistic. At first the marriage was a loving one, but as Lamb grew more ambitious politically they grew apart.
1812 - She was 27 when she met Byron. He was just 24 and on the verge of becoming the darling of society having just published Childe Harolde's Pilgrimage.
- Caroline’s affair with Byron occupied four months. She had been attracted to him – as had many – via her reading of Childe Harold I and II.
1816 - Her novel Glenarvon was another weapon in her war against him.
1822-1823 - Caro wrote two more novels, Graham Hamilton and Ada Reiss published a year after.
1825 - She and William finally separated for good when Caro was 40.
1828 - Died on January 26th, with William at her bedside.
