1922 – Born on the 14th day of November in Brooklyn, New York. An American actress.
- She graduated from high school in Miami, where she was known for her beauty. She had a troubled childhood, and was allegedly diagnosed paranoid.
1938 – She moved with her mother and step-father to Beverly Hills, California, where her mother enrolled her in the celebrated Bliss-Hayden School of Acting at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.
1939 – Her first appearance on screen was for RKO, playing a small role among several students in "Sorority House".
1940 – Her contract was subsequently dropped by RKO.
- She married art director John Detlie on September 21st.
1941 – Her breakthrough film was "I Wanted Wings", a major hit in which she played the second female lead and was said to have stolen scene after scene from the rest of the cast.
1942 – She appeared in the movie “This Gun for Hire".
1943 - Paramount newsreel shows her adopting an upswept hairdo at the behest of War Womanpower Commission, to discourage "peekaboo bangs" on Rosie the Riveter.
1944 - Married to Andre De Toth on December 13th.
1946 – She was cast by Paramount in a string of mostly forgotten films. A notable exception was "The Blue Dahlia", in which she again co-starred with Alan Ladd.
1948 - She took up flying and flew her small plane from Los Angeles to New York.
1955 – She resorted to television and stage work.
- Married songwriter Joseph A. McCarthy on August 28th.
1959 – She broke her ankle and was unable to continue working as an actress.
- She and McCarthy divorced, and she drifted between cheap hotels in Brooklyn and New York City and was arrested several times for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
1966 – She had a brief stint as a television hostess in Baltimore, Maryland, along with a largely ignored film role in "Footsteps in the Snow".
1970 – She published her autobiography 'Veronica' amid much publicity and positive reviews. With the proceeds, she co-produced and starred in her last film, "Flesh Feast" a very low budget horror movie with a Nazi-myth storyline.
1972 – She then moved to the United Kingdom and "English sea captain" Robert Carleton-Munro on June before returning to the U.S.
1973 – At age 53, she died of hepatitis and acute renal failure on the 7th day of July in Burlington, Vermont.
