1903 - Lagin was born in Vitebsk on December 4, 1903.

 

1918 - Participated in the Civil War at the age of fifteen.

 

1937 - Lagin was best known for his book "Old man Hottabych".

 

1942 - Lagin was in action during World War II, serving on Black Sea Fleet and finishing the war with Russian marines liberating countries of Eastern Europe along the Danube River. He was several times decorated for bravery.
