1918 - Madeleine L'Engle Camp, born on the 29th of November in New York. She is an American writer best known for her children's books.

1937 - 1941 - She attended Smith College.

1942 - She met actor Hugh Franklin when she appeared in the play The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov.

1946 - Married Franklin on the 26th of January, the year after the publication of her first novel, The Small Rain.

1952 - The family moved to a 200-year-old farmhouse called Crosswicks in rural Connecticut.

1960 - She completed her most famous novel, A Wrinkle in Time.

1960 - 1966 - Taught at St. Hilda's & St. Hugh's School in New York.

1962 - Dozens of publishers rejected the story before Farrar, Straus and Giroux finally published.

1965 - She became a volunteer librarian at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, also in New York.

2002 - Reduced mobility from osteoporosis, and  suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.
