1910 – He was born on the 23rd day of March this year in Ota, Tokyo, Japan.
1936 – He learned of an apprenticeship program for directors through a major film studio, PCL (which later became Toho).
1943 - His first credited film (Sugata Sanshiro) was released this year.
1950 – He had a distinctive cinematic technique, which he had developed by this year, and which gave his films a unique look.
1960 - Many of Kurosawa's scripts, including Throne of Blood, Seven Samurai and Ran were co-written with Hideo Oguni.
1990 – He made three more films during this year which were more personal than his earlier works.
1993 – His last film was entitled “Madadayo”.
1998 – He died on the 6th day of September this year in Setagaya, Tokyo, Japan at the age of 88.
