Kristen Cornett was born in July 5th, 1974 from Lexington, Kentucky, She grew up in Lexington, Kentucky and fascinated severe weather at an early age, Her parents drag her inside in the front porch during the storms, She done some Tornado Chasing and stood of an eye of a hurricane.
She also fascinated earthquakes and volcanoes, If she couldn’t be a Meteorologist, She would be a Volcanologist or a Selsmologist, She attended the University Of Kentucky and was gonna be a doctor, She had an idea to come up to work in Broadcast Meteorology, sooner. But up until then she always viewed her fascination as just that, She ended up transferring and earned her degree in GeoScience of emphasis from Mississippi State University.
From There she went to broadcasting of forecasting the weather for Local Television, She started her career in 1996 at WCBI-TV in Columbus, MS, where she was a Weekend Meteorologist, In 1997, She was a Meteorologist at WAAY-TV in Huntsville, AL with Adrian Gibson & Garry Dobbs, Then in July of 2001, She went to WHAS-TV in Louisville, KY, Then in July 2004, She worked at (NBC affiliate) WLWT in Cincinnati, OH, Then in March 2006, She was a Staff Meteorologist at NBC Weather Plus, where she appeared on MSNBC, CNBC, NBC Nightly News and The Today Show.
In 2007, She went to KMOV in St. Louis, She joined the 4 Warn Storm Team in October 2007, where she provides the weather for weekends on News 4, She also provides Go Green reports for Tuesdays and Fridays for the 6 pm newscast, During the week, She fill in for Matt Chambers on Awake with News 4, reporting on a feature story, or helping out 4 Warn Storm Mode Coverage, on the web or live in the field.
Back in 1999, She earned the Seal Of Approval from The American Meteorological Society and a member of the National Weather Association, People asked her where she moving next, Honestly she gets tired of moving and start over again, It used to be fun but she had her fill, She eager to get involved in the community and put down some roots, Hopefully you’ll see her at KMOV for years to come.
