1958 – He was born this year in Springfield, Massachusetts.
1979 – He graduated from Ohio University, and following graduation.
1980 – He began working for the Cincinnati Enquirer, where he covered college sports and professional football from this year until 1985.
1985 – He was an NFL beat writer for Newsday from this year until 1989, when he joined the staff of Sports Illustrated. He writes regularly on the NFL for the magazine, and appears frequently as a commentator on radio and TV talk shows across the nation.
2002 – He also joined Inside the NFL, the Emmy Award-winning HBO show, in this year as a managing editor and reporter.
2005 – He was appointed by the governor of New Jersey. He served on a fact-finding task force in an attempt to end steroid and human growth hormones in high school athletics.
2006 – Beginning this year, he will be a part of Football Night in America, NBC's new Sunday night NFL studio show.
