1980 - Born on January 25th in Manhattan, New York. American singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer, actress, music video director, philanthropist, and author.

1987 - Took piano lessons at age seven at her mother's insistence.

1996 - Graduated as valedictorian from Professional Performance Arts School of Manhattan, at age 16.

         - Accepted by Columbia University, but dropped out to pursue her music career.

1997 - Signed a demo deal with Jermaine Dupri and his So So Def label, then distributed to Columbia Records.

         - Wrote and recorded a song entitled "Dah Dee Dah (Sexy Thing)" which appeared on the soundtrack for the blockbuster, Men in Black.

1998 - She signed with Arista Records.

1999 - She left Arista to join J Records, headed by legendary music impresario Clive Davis.

2000 - Recorded songs "Rock Wit U" and "Rear View Mirror" which featured on the soundtracks to the movies, Shaft and Dr. Dolittle 2.

2001 - Her debut album, "Songs in A Minor," sold six million copies and garnered five Grammys.

2004 - Won the award for Best RnB at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

         - Keys won  MTV Video Music Awards "Best R&B Video" for "If I Ain't Got You"

2005 - Her album "Diary" won her four more Grammys.

         - Won "Best R&B Video" in her second year in a row for "Karma". At the

         - Performed and taped her installment of the MTV Unplugged series on 14th of July at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.
