1763 – Born in Doansburg, Putnam County, New York on July 31st.
1790-1791 – Lawyer and member of New York state assembly from Dutchess County.
1793 – He was a candidate for U.S. Representative from New York.
1798 – He was the Justice of New York Supreme Court.
1826-1828 – Wrote 4-volume "Commentaries on American Law", the first comprehensive treatment of the subject.
1847 – Died in New York, New York County, New York on December 12th. Interment somewhere in Fishkill, N.Y. Kent County, Michigan is named for him.
1900 – Elected to the Hall of Fame for Great Americans.
